MLS is a long-established exam preparation centre. Whatever course you are studying, there is an internationally recognised exam you can take to demonstrate your level of English and supplement the end-of-course certificate and report provided by MLS.  Studying for an external exam will also ensure that you have a target outcome for your training course, which may have a positive influence on you progress.

The MLS Library has a good range of exam preparation and practice material that will help you to be ready for your exam. You can also use the self-study rooms for online exam practice. The MLS Exams Manager can advise you on the best exam to take for your purposes and can help you with enrolment.

Business English Exams

The MLS International Business Communications (IBC) courses will assist you in preparing for Cambridge English: BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) and Cambridge English: BEC.  Both of these exams are widely recognised in the workplace.

BULATS is a Cambridge English online test, with results expressed in terms of the CEFR (A1-C2) based on your performance.  There are three separate modules available:

  • Module 1: Reading & Listening
  • Module 2: Writing
  • Module 3: Speaking

Candidates can take one, two or all three of these modules, as required, to measure their Business English competence and will receive a Test Report Form for each module. The results for Module 1 are available on the same day as the test, and for Modules 2 and 3 the results are usually available within a week of taking the test, making this a flexible choice of exam and one that is regularly run at MLS.

The Cambridge English: Business (BEC) is available at three levels:

  • Cambridge English: Business Preliminary (B1)
  •             Cambridge English: Business Vantage (B2)
  •             Cambridge English: Business Higher (C1)

Cambridge English BEC Vantage and BEC Higher take place at the London Exam Centre.

Please note that exam sessions are subject to a minimum number of candidates and some advertised dates may not take place. Please check before booking your course.
